Things to look forward to

So with the news announced last night that many people will not get to spend Christmas with their families, the importance of seeing the positives is more prevelant than ever!

While we won't have as many people over for christmas as planned, we will still make the day special for the kiddies and stick to our usual Christmas day traditions, like our Christmas day walk. May even take a dip in the sea this year!

While also seeing the positives, I'm looking forward to a new chapter of things in 2021. I have some goals that I've set myself, which inlcude building on my personal styling business, while at the same time being conscious of the purchases that I'm making. No more rash buying, but carefully selecting things that I truely think will elevate my wardrobe and will be lasting pieces. So to that end here is the list of things that I will be aiming for/coveting in 2021......

Leather Trousers

Well maybe not actual leather trousers, they're a bit out of my price range, but these ones look great and have an elasticated waist!!!!

Michelle Keegan PU Trousers

Brown Boots

These Rogue Matila boots are just amazing, I mean look at that lightening bolt on the back! And I'm obsessed with red laces on boots at the moment, but unfortunately I have a feeling these will sell out and they don't tend to repeat some designs. I might have to find an atlertive, unless they still have some in the New Year - fingers crossed! I also have my eye on a pair on Grenson boots, but already have similar pairs so those will have to go to the bottom of the list for now.

Rogue Matilda Ziggy Boots

Huggy Earrings

I go through phases of wearing jewellery, but the things I tend to wear the most are the simple, classic ones. I spotted these beauties on @maimy_pea and fell in love!

Monica Vinader Huggie Earrings

Cross Body Bag

I'm a bit obsessed with Kate Spade, I just love thier bags and these two are just gorgeous. I could add so many to this list, as they have so many lovely styles, but I really like this shape and size.

Fedora Hat

I've been coveting a Lack of Colours hat for years. I've got a summer fedora and I love wearing it, so would love one to wear all year round and this one fits the bill perfectly.

Lack of Color Zulu Rancher

While the items on my list are not cheap, these are things that that I have wanted for a while and I'm happy to save up for as I know my love for them will not dimish after a month. I know won't be able to get all of the items on here, but if I can get one thing then I will be extremely happy and I'm sure I will add more things to my list, but for now I'm happy with what's above.

What's on your wish list for 2021? Or what things are you lookoing forward to/goals you are setting? I would love to know.

Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. Whoever you are spending it with I'm sure it will be special.

The Toughest Week

So I usually post on a Sunday and I had something all written out, but after I got the hubby to check it over (like I usually do) he said it seemed a bit more random than my usual stuff. I think the reason for that was because I normally write about what's happened to me that week and this one was different, so I've scrapped it for now and written about what's really been going on. If you’ve read my blog from the start you’ll know that I lost my job at the beginning of lockdown, I believed I was unfairly dismissed and I’ve been dealing with the fallout from this since April last year. I had to to hire a solicitor, it went to ACAS (a kind of mediation service that you have to go through to try and resolve the issue) and then finally to tribunal, which I had over 2 days last week. It’s been a very tough 9+ months and I’ve documented some of my struggles on here, albeit without much detail. But the last few months and especially this last week have been the hardest. My anxie...

Wardrobe Edit - Forgot to post this!!

So this week (actaully early Sept as I completely forgot to post this blog) I did the wardrobe edit for a lovely new client, who wasn’t happy with her wardrobe at all and wanted to feel more confident in herself and what to wear. We went through all of the items in her wardrobe, getting her to try them on and discussed how the fit was or wasn’t working for her body shape. She had fallen into the trap of wearing baggy clothes to hide the parts she didn’t like, however this just gives the illusion of making you bigger than you are. Once I had pointed out what this was doing to her shape and how she looked, we went through the clothes so quickly as she now knew what to look for and we got rid of a LOT of clothes!! Knowing how to dress for your shape can make all the difference, you might think you are hiding your problem areas, but you could be making the area more obvious. By accentuating your best features you are already drawing attention away from the areas you feel less happy...

That Warm Fuzzy Feeling

I’ve always found immense joy in finding things that people love, shopping for the perfect gift for someone’s birthday or Christmas and the excitement of watching them open it and (hopefully) liking what I have bought them. This love of finding things for people was perfect for when I worked in retail. I worked in a beautiful jewellery shop (Tyler Jenkins in Swansea) which was such a great place to work, as they let me use my creative side by allowing me to design some of the displays and I ended up knowing what was in the whole store! If people came in looking for ideas of what to get someone, I would ask them a few questions about who the gift was for and go around the shop pulling different things out for them to look at, mostly it was items they hadn’t even noticed. I also worked in a clothes shop (selling the Bench, Hooch etc) in Cardiff, where the womenswear section was in the basement, so mostly you were on your own down there. When customers came downstairs, I couldn’t help c...
