So last week I didn’t even mention that it was my birthday, my 40th Birthday in fact. To be honest I was so excited about the wardrobe edit I forgot to write about it! Like many people, due to Covid a lot of the original plans had to be cancelled/postponed, including tickets to go and see Alanis Morrisette with a couple of my besties ☹ However, it was a lovely low-key birthday with family and a couple of friends, but I fully intend to make my 41st epic!
I’m not really someone that gets upset about birthday’s or
getting older, maybe because mentally I’m still probably about 19 years old!
Although I do feel like the cliché of ‘life begins at 40’ because its only now
that I’ve taken the decision to do something that I really want and am
passionate about as a career.
Admittedly it did take for me to lose my job to pluck up the courage to actually take action, that and some wonderful advice from a friend in South Africa (Thank you Terez). I’d contacted her to get some advice on setting up a website for my blog and explained what it was for, and that I was planning on starting my business after I had completed my Personal Styling Course in September. She told me that I didn’t need the qualification to start the job and that I should start right away. Well that scared the crap out of me to be honest, but I thought what the hell!
So, I’ve offered my services for free (on the advice of my
talented friend) to the first few clients for two reasons. One is to gain
experience, as I would feel awful charging someone for services when I wasn’t really
sure what I was doing. Second is to gain testimonials from these lovely clients
to help build up my business and reputation. So far I’ve done a wardrobe edit
for one client, but I’ve got one, maybe two booked for today – wish me luck!
