One memory of me trying to 'style' myself was when I was about 11 or 12 years old and I’d bought a green waistcoat from a charity shop. I thought it was so different and cool and when I got home that I tried it on straight away with a few different items of clothes that I had, shorts, jeans, with and without a t-shirt as well as different jewellery etc with it. I liked how it looked in the mirror and would admire my stylings, but as I was so self-conscious, I never had the guts to wear it outside.
I did that a lot,
would try things on in my bedroom and then go into my mum’s bedroom to use the full-length mirror
to see what it looked like and do various poses. I wish I had the confidence to wear what I had put together, but I was painfully shy at school with my excess puppyfat and acne prone skin.I didn't want to stand out further, especially if people didn't like what I was wearing. Generally, I just stuck with
baggy jumper, jeans and DM boots, which to be fair is pretty popular right now!
However, in the last couple of years it's been niggling me in the back of my mind. I still love trying my new clothes on with the other items I have in my wardrobe and coming up with different outfits, but I never really had 'The Fear' (Friends reference, of which there will be plenty more I'm sure).
Prior to lockdown I had been working as a Property Manager part-time. It was great as it fitted in with the kids school pick up and drop off times and I had 16 hours to be 'me'. I also loved being able to dress up for the job, rather than be in jeans and a t-shirt, which is my standard go-to.
Unfotunatley, at the beginning of lockdown I was let go from my job. It was, and still is, quite a stressful thing and I know a lot of other people all over the Country have faced similar in these uncertain times. I, like many others, found myself dealing with a lot of stress and anxiety because of it, thank you Calm app is all I can say! However the positive thing to come out of this situation, and I'm all about the positives, is that it made me realise that I now want to really focus on becoming a Personal Stylist. This blog is the start of my journey.

So lovely to hear your story, Kat.... Can't wait to follow your stylist journey and get some tips along the way! 😘
